A place like heaven
The ground-level, step-free villas of the beautiful private resort were designed by the owners in the local Sri Lankan style and planned with attention to detail. The stylish houses are detached on spacious, palm-covered grounds with separate garden and private pool.
The stone-built holiday homes offer space for two or more people in a combined living room/bedroom with a shower room open to the top in the typical style of the country. Adjacent to the building is a large terrace overlooking the garden and a private pool.
Local building materials and regional style elements give the villas an authentic, tropical flair. The amenities of the accommodation include a private chef who will spoil you exclusively with local dishes in the morning and evening. For a perfect luxury Sri Lanka holiday!

Situated between the bustling town of Bentota and the idyllic fishing village of Induruwa, Athuruwella combines the tranquillity of secluded nature with the convenience of good shopping and nightlife in nearby Bentota.
The lively town of Bentota awaits sun-seekers with palm-fringed sandy beaches and heavenly bays as well as varied water sports facilities on the Bentota River. Sri Lanka`s southwest coast is well developed for tourism and famous as a centre for Ayurveda treatments.
Aluthgama is considered an insider tip, as here those seeking relaxation can unwind on the peninsula between the lagoon and the Indian Ocean, largely undisturbed on the kilometre-long beach. The beaches of the neighbouring villages of Beruwela and Bentota join to form a kilometre-long, snow-white beach with shallow water.
The fishing village of Induruwa is the ideal place for those seeking peace and quiet. The pristine sandy beach surrounded by palm trees invites you to take undisturbed walks, cosy beach bars serve sophisticated cocktails and some very charming resorts offer exclusive accommodation.
The beautiful surroundings offer plenty of variety from beach life: Boat trips on the mysterious Madhu Ganga, visits to the historic Galapatha Rajamaha Viharaya, the bustling Kande Vihara or the tranquil Lunuganga Geoffrey Bawas Country Estate. Animal conservationists run a turtle sanctuary in the immediate vicinity of the resort.
“Ocean Garden Luxury Villas” are picturesquely embedded in the beautiful nature and invite you to enjoy the wilderness and flora of the surroundings. The idyllic grounds of approximately 10,000 square metres offer breathtaking views and exotic flair. Fragrant flowers and colourful blossoms make the property a hidden natural paradise that also attracts many native animals. Parrots, chipmunks, peacocks and monkeys bring wild life to the tranquil tropical garden.
The garden has been landscaped with native plants such as frangipani, bamboo and orchids to create a stylish oasis of tranquillity. Enjoy your breakfast under palm trees with fruits from your own cultivation! A large mango tree offers a lovely spot in the shade.
Athuruwella means “dream beach” and is a promise with crystal blue water, endless golden sandy beach and coconut palm trees!
A 100 m long footpath leads from the resort down to the wide, white beach with the imposing black granite rocks. If you are looking for peace and quiet, you will find it here. Situated exactly between two villages, hardly any visitors get lost on this beach. Here you only swim with the turtles that lay their eggs in the warm sand. Enjoy the romantic sunset in your private tropical paradise.
Have a great time!
Enjoy the taste of Sri Lanka
Indulge in the full variety of Sri Lankan cuisine: Your private chef will serve traditional Rice & Curry with ingredients from his own garden under the shade of the palm trees in your private tropical garden.
Enjoy freshly caught seafood and our speciality “Para-Fish” from the grill or from the campfire on the beach and discover exotic taste and flavour fireworks!

Into The Wild – Excursions in the Surroundings
Sri Lanka's Southwest
The beaches in the southwest of Sri Lanka offer picture-postcard motifs throughout: endless beaches with golden sand, turquoise water, palm forests and colourful coral reefs make tropical dreams come true. Swimming and sunbathing are possible here all year round.
On the southwest coast, every visitor will find his or her personal dream beach. From small, unspoilt sandy beaches, where the silence is only interrupted by the sound of the waves, to lively spots that attract the party crowd, to family-friendly bays, it’s all here.
Visitors will also find plenty of variety from beach life in the south: surfing, snorkelling, Ayurveda, yoga and massages, excellent seafood and relaxed sundowners, excursions into the mysterious mangroves, to a turtle breeding station or to the lively cities of Galle and Colombo.
Galapatha Rajamaha Viharaya
Visitors should make a detour to the Galapatha Rajamaha Viharaya, a silent Buddhist temple from the 12th century with beautiful wall paintings and a tooth relic.
Galle - Historic Port City
Before the arrival of the Portuguese in the 16th century, Galle was the island’s main port and reached the peak of its development as a thriving trading centre in the 18th century during the Dutch colonial period. The fortifications around the old town with its 400 or so magnificent colonial-style buildings bear witness to the turbulent history of this historic port city.
Strolling over the walls of the well-preserved fortress and through the partly renovated old town with its trendy shops and cafés, visitors experience a distinctive colonial flair. On the promenade in front of the lighthouse, snake charmers and cliff jumpers provide light thrills!
Kande Vihara Temple
Kande Vihara is a Buddhist temple with a spectacular Buddha statue visible from afar. Already during the boat trip on the Bentota River, visitors see the imposing, largest seated Buddha statue in Sri Lanka on the banks of the river.
In the temple, Buddha’s life is depicted in large, colourful pictures. Another area is dedicated to the memory of the dramatic events during the tsunami in 2004. The south of Sri Lanka was severely affected by the natural disaster at that time and residents and tourists took refuge in this temple complex.
Mangrove cruise on the Bentota River
The mysterious mangrove forest on the Bentota River is home to a wide variety of birds including white-tailed eagles, kingfishers and pelicans. Macaque monkeys cavort in the trees and crocodiles, lizards, freshwater snakes and a variety of fish and prawns lurk in the water. Monitor lizards, crocodiles and snakes are suddenly within reach!
A visit to a turtle sanctuary helps animal conservationists to save the endangered animals.
To prevent the illegal sale of turtle eggs laid on the beach of the southwest coast, the staff of the sanctuaries collect the eggs immediately after they are laid and release the animals a few days after hatching.
Visitors are welcome to help collecting the eggs and release the cute animals on the beach in the evening!
Madhu Ganga and Cinnamon Islands
Madhu Ganga is a vast, shallow river basin on Sri Lanka’s southwest coast. About 25 islands cross the wetland with the river delta. The largely untouched mangrove swamps are home to numerous rare animal and plant species such as snakes, lizards and crocodiles as well as rare frog species.
Some of the idyllic islands are inhabited. The inhabitants live mainly from fishing and cinnamon production, which is why the islands are also called the “Cinnamon Islands”. Here, visitors can buy cinnamon of the very best quality.
A special attraction at Madhu Ganga is fish therapy: visitors sit on the jetty and hold their feet in the water, and immediately the industrious “doctor fish” nibble on them.
